1. Tips Regarding Site Submissions
Even though they've been around for almost eight years now, most search engines remain very backward as far as the websites they are able to crawl. This means web designers must still adhere to a specific set of guidelines when creating a website they want listed on search engines.
Listed below are some of these guidelines:
Avoid Frames...
Sure you can build a website using Frames technology and add a "No Frames" tag, but it is generally known that search engines rank websites higher if Frames is not used. A comparison was recently done between two equally optimized websites - one in Frames but using the "No Frames" tag and one without any Frames at all. You guessed it: the website without Frames did far better.
Take advantage of our Industry Website Submission service...
Some search engines such as Google and Hotbot may not list websites that do not have any external links pointing towards them. Some search engines may even remove websites that have been listed in the past if they do not have any links pointing towards them. This suggests that search engines are putting more and more emphasis on link popularity than ever before. Anduro Marketing can help companies increase the number of links pointing towards its website.
Dynamic pages are often ignored by the search engine spiders...
In fact, any URL containing special symbols like a question mark (?) or an ampersand (&) will be ignored by many engines. These usually belong to pages that are generated dynamically when a user calls up the page - until this happens, the page technically doesn't exist. If you do have a dynamically generated website, then it is a good idea to design a static version of the website as well. In addition, search engines will usually ignore JavaScript and Visual Basic code on a web page. The search engines may even rank a page lower with too much of the above-mentioned code and not enough HTML.
Make sure your website is professionally built before submitting to human directories...
When submitting to a human edited directory like Yahoo, Looksmart, or DMOZ, it is important to understand that your website must be well designed in order to get listed. Since an actual human will be looking at your website before indexing it on the directories, their opinion will count. Navigation must be clear and logical, content must be well laid out, and there should be no broken links anywhere on the website. Most times, it is advisable to have a professional help in the design elements of your website.
It is a good idea to avoid the numerous bulk submission services that are advertised...
It is an understatement to say that there are more than several bulk submission services out there claiming to submit your website to thousands of search engines. The problem is, will those submissions actually be accepted? If so, will this be true for the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, or Alta Vista? In short, the answer is often a resounding "No". Many of the search engines today consider bulk submissions to be spamming, and will not even consider a website that has been submitted in this manner. Another reason for the inefficiency of bulk submission - potentially the most important of all - is the fact that the keywords selected and submitted may not be the most effective. The selection of keywords is an art, something that takes time and energy. Keywords that you think are being searched for may either be a) not searched for at all, or b) so crowded that your website may have a chance at showing up on the millionth and first spot. So the selection of keywords is a critical part of any Internet Marketing campaign.

2. Major Newspapers Report the Importance of Search Engine Marketing
For the first time, major newspapers across the world are beginning to report the importance of search engine marketing, website optimization and various other Internet marketing solutions that are at the disposal of companies.
"A glance at the figures explains why. A medium-sized company might spend tens of thousands of pounds developing and maintaining a professionally-designed site filled with useful content and maybe even online sales capability. But studies reveal that the vast majority of commercial sites actually damage their own chances of being found by the Big Six search engines - Yahoo, Google, MSN, AOL, Lycos and AltaVista - through a simple lack of understanding of what the search engine "spiders" that trawl the web are looking for.
Popular animated gizmos based on products like JavaScript or Flash, for example, are to all intents and purposes invisible to search engine crawlers. So are Active Server Pages, Java Server pages, elements contained within frames, and pages that enforce acceptance of cookies - the hidden files sent by web servers to individual PCs that are used by websites to identify users."

"Heading into the home stretch of the holiday e-tailing season, millions of consumers will once again rely on search engines to help find the items they want.
According to the Internet consultancy Jupiter Media Metrix, 59 percent of online buyers start at least some of their shopping excursions by typing a product name into a search site. For portals that double as search sites, like Yahoo, MSN and AOL, the shopping urge means huge numbers of visitors."

As the Internet becomes increasingly crowded, it is important to leverage the growing popularity by considering your companies Internet marketing strategies and how you are ranking on search engines for specific keywords related to your products and services.
