A Few Things I Have Been Working On

Teaching

I used to teach a lot a few years ago. Then I decided to take a break which I did for about 5 years. Back in the day, I taught at the University of Calgary (Cont Ed), Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, and Mount Royal University. For some reason this summer I got an itch to teach again. I put out a few feelers and Haskayne School of Business said that they needed someone to teach Introduction to Marketing. So in the Fall, I taught 60 students all about marketing. I had good support from friends who came in as guest speakers and judges for presentations. These people included Mark Ruthenburg, Tony Smith, Michell McDougall, Nigel McEathron, Neville Chamberlain, Marty Clarke, Tanya White, Kurt Wytrykush, and Ken Maxwell.

Now I’m teaching at SAIT. Again I’m teaching marketing. Two classes in fact. One is face-to-face and the other is online. This is the first time that I have taught a course online - I’m learning a lot. And enjoying the students.

Support Kaycee Bearspaw to Compete in the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships

Kaycee Bearspaw is a talented 16-year-old hockey player who has been given a wonderful opportunity. Kaycee has been selected to represent Alberta in the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships (NAHC), a prestigious tournament in Winnipeg that brings together the best young Indigenous hockey players from across Canada. The championships are scheduled for May 7-13 this year.

This is a tremendous honour for Kaycee and a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport. However, the cost of participating in the tournament is significant, and Kaycee and his family are in need of our support to help cover the expenses associated with travel, accommodations, and equipment.

To raise sufficient funds, Kaycee’s mother, Ladan House, has launched a GoFundMe campaign with the goal of raising $9,000 to support Kaycee and his family. By contributing to this campaign, you can help ensure that Kaycee has the opportunity to showcase his talents on a national stage and inspire others in their communities to pursue their dreams.

Kaycee comes from the Stoney Nakoda First Nations, located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta. Hockey has always been a part of his life, and he has been playing since he was a young child. His talent and hard work have paid off, as he has been recognized as one of the top young players in Alberta. See Kaycee’s player statistics.

To contribute to the campaign, please visit the GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/f/kaycee-bearspaw-aboriginal-hockey-championships .

Together, we can help Kaycee achieve his dream!

The National Aboriginal Hockey Championships are a unique opportunity for Indigenous youth to come together and compete in a friendly and supportive environment. The tournament promotes not only athletic excellence but also cultural pride and respect for traditions. For many of the young athletes who take part, it is a chance to connect with others from across the country who share their passion for hockey.
